Kondalilla Falls Walk

Kondalilla National Park. Montville - Hinterland Range

Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Situated atop of the picturesque Blackall Range, Kondalilla Falls Walk is a refreshingly cool retreat that will be sure to reconnect you with Mother Nature for the day! Kondalilla is an Aboriginal word for ‘Rushing Water’ & the name sure delivers!

Hi there, this is Livi… founder & owner of Boston Shaker Bar.

For my long term customers, viewers & readers, most of you would now know that I grew up on the Sunny Coast. You’re probably also across the fact my parents had us camping, & or getting back to nature when ever & where ever possible & Kondalilla Falls Walk just happens to be one of those beautiful destinations! Family picnics, dad clicking mad with his camera & mum making sure we had the bathers/togs packed for a refreshing swim after a good day walk. Great memories, & one that you now can create with your own family. Check it out for yourself.

Cheers Livi.

Rainforest Day Walk

If you & your family & friends are looking for an opportunity to wind down & reconnect with Mother Nature for the day, then you need to experience Kondalilla Falls Walk. Just over 1/2 an hours drive from Boston Shaker Bar in Mooloolaba, it’s an ideal & easily accessible destination that with be sure to showcase how naturally beautiful the Sunshine Coast really is.

Complete with a 4.6klm (2 hour) round walking track, you’ll meander your way through some spectacular Queensland Native Rainforest. Whilst I see many young kids walk it, there is some decent stairs to walk up & down (over 100 in fact), but the visual reward is invaluable.

Pack the bathers

Once you reach the falls, there is a small waterfall flowing into a naturally formed pool (This pool sits at the top of the huge Kondalilla waterfall to the bottom o the range. Great for photo images!). The perfect reward for the perfect bush walk delivers you a beautifully refreshing swim. But take note as a word of caution… you do have to be very careful not to dive due to submerged rocks & debris.

Being a Protected Natural Habitat, it must be looked after. Be aware that man made products like sunscreen can pollute the water & all rubbish must be taken out (no domestic dogs allowed!).

“Kondalilla Falls Walk, is a decent 4.6 klm total rainforest walk that the whole family can enjoy. Approx 2 hour round journey, you will walk in rainforest, swim in freshwater rock pools &take photo’s of mountainous outlooks. Whilst I do see many kids on the track, there are over 100 stairs & some reasonable fitness is required!

Pack some lunch

Just before the day walk starts, there are some wonderful facilities to use. Managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, there is a pristine lawned area to kick a footy, sit on a picnic blanket, or lay back with your eyes closed & listen to the sounds of the native rainforest birdlife.

Well maintained toilets are available & also some protected undercover seating if that you want to make a day of it. It’s not too uncommon to see families enjoying a picnic lunch, or morning tea taking place.

If you’d prefer somewhere nice to dine, Kondalilla falls is literally within 15 - 20 mins drive from the towns of Flaxton, Montiville & Mapleton… your dining options are endless!
