On Monday night, Patient Wolf’s Distilling Co’s gin expert, Jesse Stowers - spent the evening taking us on a journey through the history, distilling processes, unique individual craft, and gin tasting adventure..…

‘An experience that we will never forget!’

As you’re probably aware, gin has really taken off in Australia lately. In fact, (& hows this for a statistic?) in 2003 there was only 3 registered gin distilleries (Registered with the Australian Distilling Association) & today in early 2021, there are 173 registered.

In short, gin is booming!

Gin Tasting Journey

What really stunned me throughout Jesse’s gin tasting journey, was how much we use the rest of our senses to enjoy Gin (ie: Sight - Smell - Touch - Temperature).

For example:

  • Did you know that aromatics account for up to 70% of what we taste?

  • Before we even get to smell the gin, people start to drink with their eyes

With regards to flavour, Australia has got a lot going for it with access to a plethora of native botanicals (used to infuse flavour in the gin)
